Stela and the Butterfly Adventure…

Stela’s family loved camping, and this weekend, they set up their tents deep in the woods. The tall trees swayed gently in the breeze, birds chirped happily, and the scent of pine filled the air. Stela, a curious 7-year-old with bright brown eyes and a love for adventure, couldn’t wait to explore.

As her parents set up the campfire and her older brother, Leo, gathered firewood, Stela wandered near a patch of wildflowers. That’s when she saw it—a beautiful butterfly with shimmering blue wings fluttering just ahead of her.

“Ooooh! A butterfly!” Stela whispered excitedly. She took a careful step forward, watching as the butterfly danced through the air. It flapped its wings and floated toward the trees.

“I’ll just follow it for a little bit,” Stela thought, stepping further into the woods. The butterfly glided gracefully, leading her past mossy logs, tall ferns, and sparkling little streams. Stela giggled as she tiptoed after it, feeling like an explorer on a secret mission.

But then, the butterfly disappeared behind a thick tree, and when Stela turned around… her heart sank.

The campsite was gone.

The trees around her all looked the same, and she couldn’t remember which way she had come from. The wind rustled the leaves, making the forest feel bigger and quieter. Stela’s excitement turned into worry.

“I-I think I took a wrong turn,” she muttered.

Taking a deep breath, she remembered what her parents had taught her about getting lost in the woods. “Stay in one place and make noise so people can find you.”

Stela found a big rock and sat down. “Mom! Dad! Leo!” she called. But only the birds answered back. She took a deep breath and sang her favorite song, hoping her family would hear her voice.

After a few minutes, she heard rustling in the bushes. She held her breath—was it a bear? A wolf?

“Stela!”

It was Leo! He came running toward her, followed closely by Mom and Dad. Stela jumped up and hugged them tightly.

“You scared us!” Mom said, brushing Stela’s hair back.

“I’m sorry,” Stela said. “I was following a butterfly, and I didn’t realize how far I had gone.”

Dad smiled. “Butterflies are beautiful, but next time, let’s follow them together.”

As they walked back to camp, the same blue butterfly reappeared, fluttering around Stela once more before disappearing into the sky. This time, Stela waved goodbye from where she stood—safe and sound with her family.

That night, as they sat by the crackling campfire, Stela learned an important lesson: adventures are fun, but staying safe is even more important.

And, of course, she always remembered the day a little butterfly led her on an unexpected adventure.

The end!
