Listen to “Christmas Story – Santa's Missing List” on Spreaker.
The North Pole was bustling with activity. Santa’s elves were putting the finishing touches on toys, Mrs. Claus was baking cookies, and the reindeer were stretching their legs for the big night. But in Santa’s office, a small crisis was brewing.
“Where is it?!” Santa exclaimed, rummaging through stacks of papers and scrolls. “I can’t find the Naughty and Nice List!”
Pepper, Santa’s chief elf, peeked in. “What’s wrong, Santa?”
“My list!” Santa said, his cheeks rosy with worry. “Without it, I won’t know who gets presents!”
Pepper scratched his head. “Don’t worry, Santa. We’ll find it. Let’s retrace your steps.”
The two set off to look. First, they checked the Toy Workshop, where Santa had spent the morning inspecting the toys. The elves there were busy wrapping gifts.
“Have you seen my list?” Santa asked.
“No, but we’ll keep an eye out!” an elf replied, holding up a shiny red bow.
Next, they visited the Reindeer Stable, where Dasher and Dancer were practicing takeoffs.
“Maybe you left it here?” Pepper suggested.
“I don’t think so,” Santa said, stroking his beard.
The reindeer shook their heads. “We haven’t seen it, but we’ll search the hay bales!” Dasher offered.
Feeling uneasy, Santa and Pepper went to Mrs. Claus in the Kitchen. She was decorating gingerbread cookies shaped like sleighs and snowflakes.
“My list is missing,” Santa told her.
“Oh, dear!” Mrs. Claus said. “I haven’t seen it, but why don’t you take a cookie for energy while you look?”
Santa bit into a snowflake cookie, but even its deliciousness couldn’t calm his nerves.
As the clock ticked closer to Christmas Eve, Santa began to lose hope. “What if we don’t find it in time?” he sighed.
Pepper patted Santa’s arm. “Let’s think. Where else could it be?”
Suddenly, Jingles, a young elf, ran in. “Santa! I heard you’re missing your list. I saw Sparkle the Elf carrying something that looked like a scroll earlier.”
“Where was Sparkle?” Santa asked, his eyes lighting up.
“She was heading toward the Sleigh Garage!” Jingles said.
Santa and Pepper rushed to the garage. There, Sparkle was polishing the sleigh’s runners, humming a cheerful tune.
“Sparkle!” Santa called out. “Did you see my list?”
Sparkle looked up, startled. “Your list? Oh no! I thought it was just an old scroll, so I used it to test the new wrapping machine!”
Santa’s eyes widened. “What happened to it?”
Sparkle pointed to a stack of perfectly wrapped packages. “It must be in one of those boxes!”
Without wasting a second, Santa, Pepper, and Sparkle began unwrapping the presents. After a few tense moments, Pepper held up the Naughty and Nice List, slightly crumpled but intact.
“Here it is!” he shouted.
Santa let out a big, jolly laugh. “Ho ho ho! Thank goodness!”
As the team worked together to re-wrap the presents, Santa smiled at his helpers. “This could’ve been a disaster, but you all reminded me that teamwork saves the day.”
That night, with the Naughty and Nice List safely tucked in his pocket, Santa climbed into his sleigh and took off into the starry sky, ready to bring joy to children everywhere.
The end!
